Additively Manufactured Ferroelectric Particulate Composites for Antimicrobial Applications

چکیده

A polarized ferroelectric material can initiate the micro-electrolysis of water molecules which leads to formation reactive oxygen species (ROS) in an aqueous solution resulting selective bacteria killing. This study presents fabrication, characterization, and antimicrobial performance poled particulate composites. Barium calcium zirconate titanate (BCZT) micro-powder is synthesized by a solid-state reaction mechanically mixed with polycaprolactone (PCL) be subsequently fed into 3D bioprinter for fabrication porous PCL-BCZT structures at four different ceramic loadings (0, 10, 20, 30 wt%). For examination material's capacity handle extremely high contamination, composites are exposed inoculum (Escherichia coli ATCC 25922) ?70% E. degradation recorded end 15 min without any external intervention. The surface bacterial attributed generated species, large area samples polymer matrix's hydrophobic nature, behavior reflected wt% BCZT loading exhibiting best among other state-of-the-art ferroelectrics. Overall, these results indicate that have great potential as materials surfaces.

Additively Manufactured Pneumatically Driven Skin Electrodes

Telemedicine focuses on improving the quality of health care, particularly in out-of-hospital settings. One of the most important applications is the continuous remote monitoring of vital parameters. Long-term monitoring of biopotentials requires skin-electrodes. State-of-the-art electrodes such as Ag/AgCl wet electrodes lead, especially during long-term application, to complications, e.g., ski...

Additively manufactured sub-periosteal jaw implants.

Severe bone atrophy jeopardizes the success of endosseous implants. This technical note aims to present the innovative concept of additively manufactured sub-periosteal jaw implants (AMSJIs). Digital datasets of the patient's jaws and wax trial in occlusion are used to segment the bone and dental arches, for the design of a sub-periosteal frame and abutments in the optimal location related to t...

Additively Manufactured Porous Biomaterials and Implants

Recent advances in additive manufacturing (AM) techniques (otherwise known as 3D printing) have enabled fabrication of a new class of porous biomaterials (Figure 1) with arbitrarily complex and precisely controlled topologies that e.g. resemble the geometry and micro-architecture of (trabecular) bone. Since the geometry of scaffolds and biomaterials is an important factor in bone tissue regener...

Mechanical Properties of Additively Manufactured Thick Honeycombs

Honeycombs resemble the structure of a number of natural and biological materials such as cancellous bone, wood, and cork. Thick honeycomb could be also used for energy absorption applications. Moreover, studying the mechanical behavior of honeycombs under in-plane loading could help understanding the mechanical behavior of more complex 3D tessellated structures such as porous biomaterials. In ...
